What membership covers
Towing, soft ungroundings, battery jump starts and fuel delivery are covered services for members, and BoatUS pays them 100%.
Salvage is never covered by any towing membership.
Covered, and not covered
Towing yes. Salvage no.
Salvage is a different job with a different bill. No towing membership covers it — salvage is normally paid by your boat insurance, and H2O Boat Tow works directly with carriers and adjusters on it. Everything on the covered list — towing, soft ungroundings, battery jump starts, fuel delivery — is paid 100% by BoatUS.
So which one is it, an ungrounding or a salvage?
A soft ungrounding is a boat that is upright, undamaged, surrounded by water and freeable in about fifteen minutes with one boat and one line. Anything else is salvage. The captain says which it is before a line goes on.

- Membership — about $130 a year
- A single non-member call — typically $300 to $500

What it costs you at the ramp
Nothing, when it’s covered.
For members, covered on-the-water assistance is $0 out of pocket. Flat annual dues, paid up front — not a surprise invoice after the fact.
Thinking of letting another boater tow you in?
The moment you agree to tow another boat you take on the responsibility of doing it safely. Tow lines part under load, shackles and hardware fail, and negligence can leave you liable.

You can still call.
You don’t have to be a BoatUS Member to utilize our services. We work with all insurance companies! So if you have towing on your policy WE CAN work with them to make sure you get your services covered. Cash pay is accepted as well.
